Weather

Generally a warm country; however, the winters can bring severe snow and intense cold, especially in the mountains and valleys. Rainfall is very low all year round.

Passport / Visa Requirements

All nationalities, except those from Bulgaria, CIS, Hungary, Romania and Vietnam, require a visa.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are recommended for cholera, hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, tuberculosis and tetanus.

Political / Economic Situation

The country has achieved a fair degree of stability since the early 1990s and the economic situation is steadily improving.

Restrictions

All major sites along The Silk Road are open to the public.

Airports / Air Access

Baku's international airport is served by European and Middle-Eastern airlines and the country's main Silk Road sites are reachable by bus from the capital.

Road Conditions / Infrastructure

Azerbaijan's road network is extensive but in generally poor repair. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for more remote sites.
