Passport / Visa Requirements

Most nationalities require a visa; please contact your local embassy for details. All Israeli nationals will be refused entry.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are recommended for cholera, hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, tuberculosis and tetanus. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if coming from an infected area.

Political / Economic Situation

Iran's government has been stable and the economy has been slowly but steadily improving since the end of the war with Iraq in the late 1980s.

Airports / Air Access

Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport is served by airlines from all over the world. Other major cities such as Isfahan, Mashad and Shiraz also have international airports. Both Arg-i-Bam and the Ziggurat of Chogha-Zanbil are accessible from international aiports in Kerman and Ahvaz, respectively.

Road Conditions / Infrastructure

All Silk Road sites are also reachable by motor vehicle or rail transport.
