A moderate climate, with the warmest season between June and September coinciding with the rainiest part of the year.

Passport / Visa Requirements

Most nationalities require a visa but for up-to-date information please contact your local Korean embassy.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are recommended for hepatitis A and B and Japanese encephalitis.

Political / Economic Situation

The country has had a relatively stable government since the end of the Korean War in 1953 and is one of the 'tiger economies' of the Pacific Rim. However, the Asian crisis of the past few years has hit the country hard and growth has been seriously affected.

Airports / Air Access

The capital, Seoul, is served by many international flights from Europe, North America and Asia. The city of Kyongju has the Taegu International Airport and is also linked to Seoul by rail and transport.

Road Conditions / Infrastructure

Korea's infrastructure is highly developed and all the major Silk Road sites can be reached easily by road.
