The Silk Road |
The great trade route known as The Silk Road once ran across much of the known world from China in the East to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the West - transporting goods, people, ideas and religions from one end of the Eurasian land mass to the other.
For 12,000 kilometres, the world's main commercial artery provided a link between some of the greatest civilisations the world has ever seen - the Chinese, Mongolian, Indian, Persian, Roman, Greek, Byzantine, Mesopotamian and Egyptian. |
